Animated Logos

1st Logo (December 12, 2009-September 16, 2019)


Visuals: A sparkling spotlight shines on a black background as a crystallized, transparent Kanji person with an antenna on top of its head in a walking motion slowly descends. "TBS" and "Tokyo Broadcasting System Television, Inc.", both crystallized and transparent, are below. The figure stops above "TBS," and the spotlight fades out. The figure turns red, "TBS" turns blue and "Tokyo Broadcasting System Television, Inc." turns white.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Some crystallized chimes and a whoosh. NBC airings of American Ninja Warrior use generic music and an announcer.

Availability: Seen on American Ninja Warrior, the American adaptation of Sasuke, until season 11. Also used as an ident.

2nd Logo (September 7, 2020-)


Visuals: A blue line flies from the bottom-left on a black background. As it flies up, something rises from the line, unfolding to reveal "TBS". The text shines and moves up as "TOKYO BROADCASTING SYSTEM" slides in and stops either next to or below "TBS".

Technique: CGI.

Audio: None. NBC airings of ANW use generic music and an announcer.

Availability: Seen on American Ninja Warrior from season 12 onward, and on My Family.

In-Credit Logos

1st Logo (August 1, 1961-December 28, 1991)

Visuals: There is the 1961 TBS wordmark, which consists of the words TBS in cursive-style lettering on a superimposed white font.

Technique: Superimposed animation.

Audio: The opening or closing theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on TBS' productions from that period such as 8 Man.

2nd Logo (September 30, 1991-January 17, 1994)

Visuals: There is the 1991 TBS "Micro Cosmos" wordmark, albeit simplified for printing reasons which consists of the words TBS with a marble on the letter "B" on a superimposed white font.

Technique: Superimposed animation.

Audio: The opening or closing theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on TBS' productions from that period such as Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai.

3rd Logo (January 18, 1994-March 31, 2020)

Visuals: There is the 1994 TBS wordmark, consisting of the words "TBS" in a Times New Roman-style serif font on a superimposed white font.

Later Variant: Around 2000, the TBS Kanji person symbol was added.

Technique: Superimposed animation.

Audio: The opening or closing theme of the show.

Availability:Seen on TBS productions from that period such as early episodes of Sasuke.

4th Logo (April 1, 2020-)

Visuals: There is the 2020 TBS wordmark, consisting of the words "TBS" in a custom sans-like font on a superimposed white text.

Technique: Superimposed animation.

Audio: The opening or closing theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on TBS productions from 2020 onwards such as later episodes of Sasuke.
