Background

WTTE is a television station in Columbus, Ohio, airing programming from the digital multicast network TBD. It is owned by Cunningham Broadcasting, which maintains a local marketing agreement with Sinclair Broadcast Group, owner of ABC/MyNetworkTV/Fox affiliate WSYX, for the provision of certain services. However, Sinclair effectively owns WTTE as the majority of Cunningham's stock is owned by the family of deceased group founder Julian Smith. Sinclair also operates Chillicothe-licensed CW affiliate WWHO under a separate LMA with Manhan Media. The stations share studios on Dublin Road in Grandview Heights, while WTTE's transmitter is located in the Franklinton section of Columbus.

1st ID (June 1, 1984)

Visuals: On a starfield, two yellow lights draw an outlined skyline, as it flashes pink. It soon fades to a complete image, and a yellow line slides to the left, leaving a white comet like shape exploding and revealing a silver abstract number "28". White letters "wtte-tv" occur by flash along with a white cursive word "Columbus".

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: A faint whoosh, followed by it descending. An announcer saying "This is WTTE. Television 28, Columbus." is heard.

2nd ID (1986-1987)

Visuals: Over a night skyline, peach numbers "2" and "8" fly and spin around, soon connecting and wiping into golden by a light. A purple outline then wipes in on the skyline, and the light wipes in the golden words "WTTE-TV COLUMBUS" next to the station's number. White words "A SINCLAIR GROUP STATION" fade in below.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: An uplifting trumpet tune with the announcer saying the same line.

3rd ID (1995-1996)

Visuals: Over a rotating orange rings background, yellow-ish station's name copies appear one by one with each time getting bigger. A grainy purple bar with the transparent name then appears, and four stacked copies of them appear afterwards and connect. A station's number then apears and stretches, zooming out slightly, soon turning transparent also. The footage cuts to a sideways blue gradient & fire burning background with a grainy grey bar with the name on it. It soon divides by four copies as well, and a blue ring rectangle then zooms out while stretching. Black text "28 WTTE COLUMBUS" in a stacked format appears and turns with an image of aforementioned orange rings. The backgrounds then switch places.

Technique: Computer animation and live-action.

Audio: A dramatic documentary-sounding theme with an announcer saying "You're watching TV 28, WTTE Columbus, bringing you Fox and UPN.".
