Background

Cablevision Systems Corporation was a cable television company that provided television, phone, and internet services to customers in the New York metropolitan area. It was founded in 1973 and was based in Long Island, New York. Cablevision sold cable TV packages, high-speed internet, and digital phone services. In 2016, Altice USA, then a subsidiary of the multinational Altice Group (it was later spun off into an independent entity), acquired Cablevision, and the Cablevision brand was eventually phased out. Altice USA continues to provide cable television and internet services to customers in the areas previously served by Cablevision.
