Background

Debmar Studios was formed on November 1, 1993 by Mort Marcus, a former senior syndication sales executive for Buena Vista Television (now "Disney-ABC Home Entertainment and Television Distribution"), with financial backing by the Walt Disney Company. Marcus became president of Buena Vista Television a year later, causing Debmar to be folded into Buena Vista. In 2003, Marcus reopened Debmar Studios after his departure from Disney. In 2006, the company merged with Mercury Entertainment to form "Debmar-Mercury".

1st Logo (1994)

Logo: On a black background, we see the words "DEBMAR STUDIOS" in a gold three-dimensional font, and the words "DISTRIBUTED BY", in a white sans serif font, chryoned-in above. The background wipes with a searchlight-like light, revealing a brown color.

Technique: 2D shine effects.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Extinct. This was found on a '90s airing of The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat. It might've been seen on announced Debmar Studios packages in syndication, mostly sourced from the CBS library, such as half hour Dr. Seuss specials (excluding How the Grinch Stole Christmas), My Fair Lady, and Bluetoes the Christmas Elf among others, as well as several Gunsmoke telefilms and two feature-length Peanuts television specials, A Boy Named Charlie Brown being one of them.

2nd Logo (2003-2006)

Logo: Several crystal-textured Copperplate letters, reading "DEBMAR STUDIOS" and reflecting the image of a jaguar in them, overlap each other and move around. Then, they zoom in, as the text "DEBMAR STUDIOS" quickly zooms out at the top of the screen, while a flash brings in a movie negative with a jaguar leaping through it underneath the text.

Variant: A shorter version also exists.

Technique: CGI.

Music/Sounds: A loud ascending whoosh, followed by a stock jaguar roar sound effect.

Availability: Extinct. Was seen on syndicated reruns of pre-2006 South Park episodes.
