TV Asahi

Background

On April 1, 1977, Nihon Educational Television rebranded to Asahi National Broadcasting Co., Ltd. (ANB) and because of this, channel 10 rebranded from NET to TV Asahi. In 2003, the company rebranded to TV Asahi Corporation and in 2014, TV Asahi restructured as a holding company with the TV operations being taken over by the second incarnation of TV Asahi Corporation.

Animated Logos

1st Logo (April 22, 2002-2003)

Visuals: On a light blue background, there is the 1977 TV Asahi English wordmark in red as it forms in place with the words "Asahi National Broadcasting Co., Ltd." (ANB, TV Asahi's legal corporate name until 2003), in white being placed on the bottom. After that, the Network Symbol (consisting of five rectangles forming a pinwheel symbol with a yellow vertical rectangle at the bottom) appears after the wordmark is formed before Shin Chan Nohara/Shinnosuke Nohara, the protagonist of the station's Shin Chan/Crayon Shin-chan anime television series appears and snaps his fingers.

Technique: Digital traditional flash animation with footage of Shinnosuke Nohara snapping his fingers.

Audio: The theme to Shin Chan/Crayon Shin-chan.

Availability: Seen on the first season of the English dub of Shin Chan/Crayon Shin-chan, produced by Lacey Entertainment and TV Asahi.

2nd Logo (December 2004-2005)

Visuals: On a white background, there are some blue rectangular blocks as they fall down with the "tv asahi" wordmark in gray being placed on the top corner of the screen as it hovers around before a white light flashes.

Trivia: This logo was also used as a station ID from 2003 to 2008.

Technique: CGI by Tomato.

Audio: The theme to Shin Chan/Crayon Shin-chan.

Availability: Seen on the second season of the English dub of Shin Chan/Crayon Shin-chan, produced by Lacey Entertainment and TV Asahi.

3rd Logo (July 7, 2014-September 1, 2015)

Visuals: On a white background, there are some pink rectangular blocks that are moving in a vertical upright position, while the word "tv asahi" appears, also in pink on the left as it briefly moves.

Trivia: This logo was also used as a station ID from 2008 to 2011.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A simple ding jingle.

Availability: Seen on the American English dub of Doraemon (2005).

In-Credit Logos

1st Logo (April 1, 1977-September 30, 2003)

Visuals: There is the 1977 TV Asahi wordmark, which consists of the words "テレビ朝日", albeit without the channel 10 symbol on a superimposed white font.

Variants:

From October 1, 1996 to September 30, 2003, the Network Symbol was added on the left of the wordmark, starting with late-1996 episodes of Doraemon (1979) and Shin Chan/Crayon Shin-chan among others.
International prints of TV Asahi's in-house productions, such as Doraemon (1979) replace the Japanese wordmark with the English wordmark.

Technique: Superimposed animation.

Audio: The opening or ending theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on TV Asahi's shows from that period, beginning with 1977-1979 episodes of Candy Candy and 1977-1982 episodes of Ikkyū-san among others.

2nd Logo (October 1, 2003-)

Visuals: There is the 2003 TV Asahi logo, consisting of a vertical rectangular block with the words "tv asahi" on the right on a superimposed white font.

Variant:

An animated variant also exists, mainly used during ANN network-broadcasted news programs.
The logo could appear in multiple colors, such as in World Trigger, when the symbol and wordmark are in blue.

Audio: The opening or ending theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on TV Asahi productions from 2003 onwards, starting with late-2003 episodes of Doraemon (1979) and Shin Chan/Crayon Shin-chan respectively among others.
