JOOY-DTV (MBS TV)
Background
Mainichi Broadcasting System, Inc. (MBS TV, callsign JOOY-DTV) is a Japanese television station serving as an affiliate of the TBS Television-run Japan News Network for the Kansai region. Based in Osaka, the station signed on March 1, 1959 and began broadcasting NET programs, before becoming a founding station of NET's All-Nippon News Network in 1970. In 1975, rival station ABC parted ways with TBS/JNN due to shareholder issues at The Asahi Shinbum. Because of this MBS switched to TBS/JNN programs while ABC switched to NET/ANN programs with the change occurring on April 1st of that year. In 2021, MBS spun-off its radio division as a separate wholly-owned subsidiary. Because of this, the TV callsign was changed from JOOR-DTV to JOOY-DTV.
