Background

Makdos was a Russian film and TV production company of Vladimir and Nikolay Dostal, which was created from the remnants of KinoMost during the early 2000's.

Logo (2002-2007)

Visuals: Starting in the darkness, the sun rises atop of the screen revealing an orange mountain chain, then when an orange central flash occurs, a white-outlined frame draws in the middle containing a zoomed-out footage of the said chain with a tiger appearing inside, walking towards the camera. The frame redraws several times, each time getting closer to the screen, and the tiger shoots out from the previous frame into where the next frame is drawn, while light threads fly around from behind. The screen suddenly zooms and tilts into the frame to transition through a flash into what appears to be a holed strip (stylized as a parallelogram shape slanted to the left, with a horizontal row of four boxed cut-outs at the middle) made out of gold with the grungy texture, set against a smokey dark red/orange background. The word "МАКΔОС" (with the Russian letter "Д" appearing as the Greek delta) zooms out into the strip, making two central letters inside, and the left-aligned "КИНОКОМПАНИЯ" fades in above the strip while the whole logo glows and emits light rays facing top-left for a while.

Technique: A mix of live-action and CGI animation by SL-Studio, a then-newly formed animated studio of Semyon Levin (the former head of NTV-Design).

Audio: A bell toll from the KinoMost logos, then a light ding accompanying an orange flash, followed by a triumphant synth orchestral fanfare composed by Sergey Miklashevsky.

Availability: Appeared on several TV series as well as DVDs in Russia, like Стилет, МУР есть МУР, Театр обреченных, and Сонька - Золотая Ручка.
