Talkback Productions was formed in 1981 by Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones and it was one of UK's leading production companies. In 2003, the company was sold to FremantleMedia for £62 million and was merged with Thames Television to form Talkback Thames. On January 1, 2012, FremantleMedia UK split Talkback Thames in four companies with Talkback focusing on comedy.
