Background

Independent Television News is a news company in Britain, founded in 1955. It is possibly the news subsidiary of ITV.

1st Logo (1969-1992)


Logo: We see a big 3D blue "ITN" with a yellow outline floating atop a body of rippling water that reflects it.

FX/SFX: The water rippling. Decent early 90s CGI.

Music/Sounds: A calm, cool xylophone ditty with an ethereal sounder in the background.

Availability: Extinct. Only used on ITN at the time.

Editor's Note: The music may seem ominous and the letters are quite big.

2nd Logo (1988-1992)

3rd Logo (1995-January 16, 2006)

Logo: On a blue background we see the same ITN logo from the previous logos now with white outlining on it with the text appearing underneath the ITN logo reads "An ITN Production for ITV" with ITV in it's 1989 font.

Variants:

  • On Channel 4 News, the text underneath changes into "An ITN Production for Channel 4".
  • On ITN World News, the text underneath the ITN logo reads "An ITN Production for NBC Super Channel" with the copyright disclaimer for ITN appears below.
  • When Channel 5 was launched in 1997 it's news programme "Channel 5 News" which produced by ITN from 1997 until 2004, the text was changed into "An ITN Production for Channel 5" with the copyright disclaimer for ITN and the URL for the ITN website.
  • Beginning on October 5, 1998, the text reads "An ITN Production" and the URL for ITN is seen below.
  • For documentaries
