Sprout Originals is an American television company founded in 2005 by Sandy Wax. The network is owned by PBS.
Logo: Each variant has a green five petal flower to reveal the PBS Kids Sprout logo. The word "sprout" is written in a font. All of this takes place on a blue background.
Trivia: This logo was designed by Primal Screen.
Variants:
Technique: Flash animation.
Music/Sounds: A 7-note theme tune that is Sprout's signature jingle.
Availability: Extinct. It's seen on PBS Kids shows that aired on Sprout before 2009.
Logo: We see a child’s hand opening a pop-up book. When it opens, lots of pictures unfold, such as trees, bushes, and flowers. A big orange flour is seen with the 2009 Sprout logo, with the text "sprout" in blue with a green 5-pedal flower above the "out" The text "Original" is also shown.
Trivia: It's presumed that this was supposed to appear on Astroblast, as the closing theme fades out when it could've finished.
Variants:
Technique: Live action combined with computer animation.
Music/Sounds: A remix of the Sprout theme, with kids saying, "Sprout!".
Availability: Uncommon. Seen on several Sprout original series (including The Chica Show), most of which are no longer on TV. However, it may be preserved on Hulu and Amazon Prime prints of The Chica Show. It is intact on uploads of Pajanimals to the official Jim Henson's Family Hub YouTube channel.
Logo: Against a grainy white background, we see a kid and a grownup (possibly their mom or dad) standing. The grownup holds a rectangle with text reading "original" and the kid holds a bullhorn. When he or she says "Sprout!", the Sprout logo comes out of the bullhorn. Then, the both say, "Original!" and the grownup holds up the text he or she was holding so we can see it.
Technique: Live action. This was filmed in New York City.
Music/Sounds: Another remix of the Sprout theme, along with the kid and the parent's dialogue.
Music/Sounds Variant: There are instrumental, dialogue-less versions of this logo.
Availability: Extinct. This was first shown on episodes of Astroblast, and then episodes of Clangers on Sprout. This can also be found on Ruff-Ruff, Tweet and Dave, before being replaced with the next logo below a few months later.
Logo: On a turquoise background, we see the Sprout text morphing in green, purple, and blue, and the flower morphs in purple, orange, and green. Then, when the flower is green and the text is a darker blue than the background, the text "original series" in blue and green flicker in slowly like neon.
Technique: 2D animation.
Music/Sounds: A remix of the Sprout theme with an airy tune and dreamy synths.
Availability: Common; it appeared on every single Sprout show by the company, plastering the previous logos. It appeared on Floogals, Dot, Astroblast, Chloe's Closet, and many more. It made its last appearance on The Ollie & Moon Show.
On September 9, 2017, the former kids network Sprout became Universal Kids. Targeted at school aged kids and tweens (from 7-12 years old).
Logo: On a white background, the Universal Kids logo (which consists of Universal Pictures' print logo's globe which is cut in half and the words "UNIVERSAL KIDS" in teal) appears and the words are revolving around the globe. The words "ORIGINAL SERIES" in purple and stacked appears at the last rotation of "UNIVERSAL KIDS". A copyright notice for Bravo Media is at the bottom.
Technique: 2D animation.
Music/Sounds: A remixed techno hip-hop beat accompanied with the sound of kids shouting what sounds like "YOUUU!".
Availability: Ultra rare. It only appeared on Universal Kids' website and the original upload of the first episode of Top Chef Junior on YouTube. However, Universal Kids took it off their website sometime later. When it was eventually re-uploaded back onto their website, this logo was removed.
Logo: On a light blue (or teal) background the words "UNIVERSAL KIDS ORIGINAL" slides into the center of the screen. "UNIVERSAL KIDS" slides in from the left side and "ORIGINAL" slides in from the right. Sometimes, copyright info would appear below.
Variants:
Technique: 2D animation.
Music/Sounds: Same as the first logo.
Availability: No longer current. Seen on Top Chef Junior and The Noise. The variant is seen on Nina's World and most likely other Sprout Original shows. As of 2019, no new original shows are being produced, so now the only other programs the air on Universal Kids are acquired/imported ones.
Legacy: The Nina's World variant was possibly made to remind younger audiences that Sprout was going to become Universal Kids.
Logo: On a teal and green-blue background the text "universal kids original" appears via a swiping in effect with a copyright notice appearing below the text. Then the text disappears.
Variant: Starting with Remy & Boo, the Universal Kids current logo now appear on the screen without the copyright notice.
Technique: Traditional animation.
Music/Sounds: A techno theme, that is different than the last 2 logos. Starting with Remy & Boo, a different theme was played.
Availability: Current.
