1st Logo (1979-1983?)

Visuals: On a black background, the red letters "WHRO" pop up one-by-one. The R then extends into an ellipse, surrounding the wordmark, which glows white. "PRESENTS" in white zooms in below the logo.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: A synthesized theme, ending in a timpani hit.

Availability: It can be seen on Community of Living Things, among other WHRO programs of the time.

2nd Logo (1983?-1988)

Visuals: On a black background, a blurry blue-white figure zooms in, which gets clearer, revealing to be the logo from before with "NORFOLK, VIRGINIA" below.

Variant: The logo was often (likely on accident) shown starting after the zoom.

Technique: Motion-controlled animation.

Audio: A single chord, played on piano, electric bass and a synthesizer with a "wah" filter.

Availability: Seen on programs of the era, including Cursive Handwriting, The Human Community and Tidewater Challenge.
