Background

This Machine is a Los Angeles and New York City-based film and television production company established in 2020 by R.J. Cutler. They mainly produce documentaries such as those related to music (e.g. Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry).

1st Logo (November 22, 2020-)

Visuals: On a black background, a sign made up of rigid lines on the bottom and curving paths on the top is shown alongside four screws bolted on the sign's four corners. The sign reads "THIS MACHINE FILMWORKS • LOS ANGELES • NEW YORK CITY • EST 2020" in a stacked format and with the former two larger than the rest. Plus, "MACHINE", with the first and latter letters bigger, is bottom aligned and has its top curved up.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: None of the closing theme of the film.

Availability: The logo is seen on Belushi, Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry, and Big Vape: The Rise and Fall of Juul.

2nd Logo (October 30, 2024)

Visuals: On a black background, the logo from before as a steel 3D sign flies out from the bottom and is partly lit. When it directly faces the screen and stops zooming out, it gains normal brightness and is tinted blue.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: None.

Availability: The logo is seen on Martha.
