Idaho Public Broadcasting Network
ID (1981-1982)
Visuals: On a blue background is the text "ipbn" in a slanted font with connected letters and the "i" in the shape of Idaho except for the dot. Below it is the text "Idaho Public Broadcasting Network".
Technique: A still image.
Audio: An announcer saying "This program is produced by (station name), for the Idaho Public Broadcasting Network."
Availability: Can be seen on two old episodes of Idaho Reports on the American Archive of Public Broadcasting.
Idaho Public Broadcasting System
1st ID (1982-1986)
Visuals: On a view of a mountain, a teal map of Idaho and the text "Idaho Educational/Public Broadcasting System Presents" fade in.
Technique: Fading effects.
Audio: A synthesized rising tune. Starting in 1985, the last note is extended. This is actually B17-2 Ascending Pattern 2, a musical piece from Don Voegeli's "Volume 4: News and Public Affairs".
2nd ID (1985-1991)
Visuals: On a black background, a lined blue rectangle with a cutout of the Idaho map appears from the left and zooms in. The yellow letters "PBS" come out from the map cutout. Below it, the words "IDAHO PUBLIC BROADCASTING SYSTEM" write themselves in. The yellow-green word "EDUCATIONAL" appears on the bottom of the Idaho map and glows pink in the style of the 2nd KBYU logo.
Technique: Computer animation.
Audio: A rising, majestic synth-clarinet fanfare followed by the last half of the 1980 GPN jingle.
Availability: Seen on Outdoor Idaho episodes during the era.
Idaho Public Television
1st ID (1991-1995)
Visuals: Footage of mountains at sunset appears, then it fades to a river with hills, followed by a mountain from a river. A green lined rectangle with an Idaho map cutout appears, with golden text with a black outline that says "IDAHO" on the top and "PUBLIC TELEVISION" on the bottom.
Variants: An earlier version had the same logo from the previous ID, but the rectangle is green and there is no glow. The "IDAHO PUBLIC TELEVISION" text now has "EDUCATIONAL" between "IDAHO" and "PUBLIC". A short version also exists for the later version, with the black outline being transparent and the logo being more centered.
Technique: Live-action and fading effects.
Audio: Unknown.
Availability: Seen on Outdoor Idaho episodes during the era. Also seen on The Vertical Environment.
2nd ID (1995-2002)
Visuals: On a brown water background is a green lined rectangle with the Idaho map cut into it on the bottom, which moves up to the center and faces the viewer, while the text "IDAHO PUBLIC TELEVISION", with "PUBLIC TELEVISION" below "IDAHO", comes up from above and moves down to the center and faces the viewer.
Technique: Live-action and CGI.
Audio: A rising xylophone sound.
Audio Variants: On Dialogue, an announcer says "Dialogue is a production of Idaho Public Television."
Availability: Seen on Dialogue episodes of the era and the special Saved by the Bill.
3rd ID (2002-2022)
Visuals: On a black background with black-blue gradient bars on the top and bottom is clips going to the center, while a blue rounded rectangle with the Bitterroot Mountains in it appears, then text that says "IDAHO PUBLIC TELEVISION" blurs in. Then a white map of Idaho fades in front of the rectangle.
Variants:
- An early version that was used until 2010 has a lined blue rectangle instead and there are no gradients.
- Until 2005, it used the previous logo text instead.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: An orchestral fanfare. Until 2005, a different theme was played.
Availability: Though no longer used in new programming, it can be seen on reruns of Dialogue and Science Trek, both of which only air on Idaho Public Television.
