Background

Eden launched on March 8, 2004 as UKTV Documentary. It was one of the two channels that replaced UK Horizons (the other being UKTV People), but UKTV Documentary aired a majority of shows that were previously aired on UK Horizons. In January 2009, UKTV Documentary was renamed Eden when the UKTV network started dropping umbrella branding from its channels.

UKTV Documentary

(March 8, 2004-January 26, 2009)

Logo: Against either a field or a city, there is a close up of something. The camera then zooms out and the UKTV Documentary logo appears.

Variant: The generic umbrella ident was of the UKTV Documentary logo against a background comprised of three horizontal stripes in different shades of teal, which would fade to black and then back to teal via a wipe effect.

FX/SFX: The live-action footage.

Music/Sounds: A catchy theme consisting of guitars and drums.

Availability: Extinct.

Eden

(January 26, 2009-)

Logo: There are various shots of people in different environmental places, like an arctic tundra or under the ocean. Once the landscape is shown, the Eden logo shines in.

Variants:

  • It depends on the place.
  • For Science Zone, TBA.

FX/SFX: The live-action footage, the word "eden" forming.

Music/Sounds: Ambient, calm synth hums and soft voices.

Availability: Current.
