Background

KLVX (known on-air as Vegas PBS since 2006) is a PBS affiliate located in Las Vegas, Nevada.


KLVX

1st ID (Mid 1980s)


Visuals: A "10" cut-out from a black rectangle with "KLVX" positioned into the "1" and the 1984 PBS logo underneath is seen on a photograph presumably taken around the natural areas surrounding Las Vegas.

Technique: A still picture.

Audio: A continuity announcer.

Availability: It was spotted on 1986 airings of Drinking and Driving: The Toll, The Tears and Mark Russell Comedy Special.

2nd ID (1990-unknown retirement year)


Visuals: The screen cuts to a silhouetted shot of Las Vegas' famous casino skyline, similar to the silhouetted mountain shots in KSPS' 1980's logo. Below it, there is the text "A Production of KLVX • Las Vegas", and to the bottom-right is a "10" in a white square with "KLVX" below. The text "Post Production at" fades next to the logo, then fades out as the logo shines.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: A synth flute jingle.

Availability: When the original UK version of Antiques Roadshow (particularly from the Hugh Scully era) is rerun on PBS, this logo can be seen at the end.

3rd ID (2002-2004)

Visuals: On an orange background, there is the text "KLVX". The text "A Production of KLVX Nevada" zooms in below, then the URL fades in.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: An orchestral tune, which is stock music from the APM Music library, composed by Gregor Narholz.

Availability: Seen at the end of KLVX programming from the time.

Vegas PBS

1st ID (September 2006-2016)


Visuals: The words "a production of" wipe in by a yellow light over a black background before fading out. The PBS emblem, in 3D and with a pink border, is seen off-center while a reddish "Vegas" script writes in on top. A white outline then appears, giving it a neon effect, then disappears after two seconds; this cycle repeats a few times. The copyright mark with the year appears near the bottom-right.

Variants:

  • Another version has the text at the beginning replaced by "presented by" in a different, standard sans-serif font.
  • In 2009, the PBS logotype was added next to the PBS emblem.

Technique: 2D CGI.

Audio: The snippet of the closing theme at the start of the logo, followed by an acapella tune (titled "Give Ten for Ten") and a buzzing noise when the "Vegas" script lights up. Sometimes, either only the buzzing noise or the closing theme plays.
