Background

OETA is Oklahoma's PBS affiliate. Its name stands for Oklahoma Educational Television Authority.

1st ID (1978-1980's?)

Visuals: Just an on-screen text consisting of the dark red word "OETA" and the channel numbers in blue, with their respective cities and call names next to them.

Variant: Sometimes, the logo is superimposed (with its color may vary) over live-action footage. Here are a few examples:

• The entire logo is in yellow and is superimposed over a path with trees between it.
• The entire logo is in white and superimposed over a desert.

Technique: A still graphic.

Audio: None. Sometimes, an announcer is heard saying "This is the OETA, public television for all on Oklahoma."

2nd ID (1987-1998)

Visuals: Over a black/gray gradient background, "OKLAHOMA" and "NETWORK", both in silver, zoom out tilted and tilt into its correct angle. There is also a red outline of the map of the United States. "An OETA Production" wipes in and the outline flashes where Oklahoma is located, revealing the map shape in red. It flashes one more time.

Trivia: This logo was designed by Grekel Productions.

Variant: Sometimes, the text "An OETA Production" would be omitted.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A jazz fanfare. For the production variant, a whoosh was included.

Availability: Seen on old prints of The Lawrence Welk Show and on seven Welk-related specials, beginning with A Champagne Toast to the Big Bands and ending with To America with Love.

3rd ID (1998-)

Visuals: On a gray background with a light passing over it, "OETA", with a gold outline, zooms out very slowly. "THE OKLAHOMA NETWORK" zooms out rapidly below "OETA".

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A piano tune with bells. Usually when used at the end, the closing theme. It may also use the opening theme when used at the beginning.

Audio Variants:

• The Lawrence Welk Show had the following play:
  • Opening: A flute and brass fanfare followed by a clicking sound.
  • Closing: Just the clicking sound.
• There is also a silent variation.

Availability: Seen on reruns of The Lawrence Welk Show on PBS stations. It can also be seen on Welk-related specials produced between 1999 (Lawrence Welk's Songs of Faith) and 2007 (Lawrence Welk's TV Treasures).

4th ID (2009-)

Visuals: On a black background, a light is seen shining with a close-up of the OETA logo at an angle. It starts to zoom out and turn as "THE OKLAHOMA NETWORK", now in Copperplate Gothic and in gold, zooms out spread apart before coming in and resting below the logo. It all zooms out as "IN HIGH DEFINITION" appears below and compresses in as the light moves to the right side of the screen.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Same as before.
