Background

Southern Oregon PBS is a PBS network for the region of southwest Oregon, based in Medford.

1st Logo (February 20, 1985-March 2, 1986?)

Logo: The word "KSYS" is coted-out within blue mountains superimposed on the intro of a show. Under "KSYS" is "8", "MEDFORD" and the 1971-1984 PBS logo, all of which are are cote-outs. The "K" and the rest of the logo then move away as "SYS" take up the rest of the space then morph into a running stream as the mountains move out of view.

Technique: The logo morphing, the panning.

Music/Sounds: The opening theme to the show

Availability: Extinct. This logo was found recently, and can be found on episodes of "Downtown Gazette" on the American Archive for Public Broadcasting.

2nd Logo (2004-2012)

Logo: On a sunset background, we see the letter "SO" slowly slides to the left of the screen. At the same time, we see the word "SOPTV", with the word "SO" is in green and brown, flips in. Then we see the 2002 P-Head animating, and the word "A Presentation of" and "Connecting Our Community" both fades in one-by-one below and above the word "SOPTV".

Technique: The flipping, the sliding, the fading and the P-Head animating. Nice animation for the 2004.

Music/Sounds: A chime sound, then followed by a nice flute theme.

Availability: Seen on some programmes from the time, such as Immense Possibilities.
