Background

TV2 is the secondary channel of Malaysia's state-run broadcasting company, Radio Televisyen Malaysia. It was launched in 1969.

RTM2 (first era)

1st (known) Logo (1985-1987)


Logo: On a black background, the yellow eyelid of the 1978 RTM logo zooms back from the viewer original position, while the orange eyelid zooms in, both having a trail of the same eyelids merging with the original positions of the logo. Then, the teal sclera and blue pupil appear inside the orange and yellow eyelids. A trail of the rtm text fly into its positions as the eye squishes into its original size and the 2 appears at the bottom right of the logo. The logo remains still for a second and then disintegrates.

Technique: Computer and hand animated animation.

Music/Sounds: A synth tune.

Variant: In the bottom right corner, a bug denoting the programs are made in stereo would wipe in.

Technique: The text, background, and the star wiping at the bottom were all CGI. The "tv2" in the square was actually a model shot with a filtered lens. This logo was done by Malaysian animation studio Fat Lizard (now known as Vision Animation), who would later go on to produce shows such as SheZow and Transformers: Rescue Bots. This logo still holds up today.
