Background

TV2 is the secondary channel of Malaysia's state-run broadcasting company, Radio Televisyen Malaysia. It was launched in 1969.

RTM2 (first era)

1st (known) Logo (1985-1987)

Logo: On a black background, the yellow eyelid of the 1978 RTM logo zooms back from the viewer original position, while the orange eyelid zooms in, both having a trail of the same eyelids merging with the original positions of the logo. Then, the teal sclera and blue pupil appear inside the orange and yellow eyelids. A trail of the rtm text fly into its positions as the eye squishes into its original size and the 2 appears at the bottom right of the logo. After a second, the logo disintegrates, as the 2 wipes out.

Technique: CGI.

Music/Sounds: A synth tune with the first ten and the last five notes being based on the Malayan folk song, Dondang Sayang.

Availability: Extinct.

TV2 (first era)

1st (known) Logo (1993?-1998?)

Logo: Against a space background, we see colorful filmstrips going through a glass-structured outlined square. Multiple objects fly over the filmstrips and go through the square before fading away, which consist of a beam (two quaver notes joined together) in gold, the Olympics logo, a magenta and green cone, a torch, an eighth note, a magenta-colored pyramid, a toy block, a G clef, a pencil, and a structure of an atom. We then fade into a glass-structured TV2 logo, which eventually turns gold, with the inside also being filled. The logo then faces the screen, and SALURAN EMAS (GOLD CHANNEL) fades in below. The logo and the slogan then shines.

Technique: 3D CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: A synth theme.

Availability: Extinct.

2nd (known) Logo (1998?-July 31, 2004)

Logo: TBA

Variant: In the bottom right corner, a bug denoting the programs are made in stereo would wipe in.

Technique: The text, background, and the star wiping at the bottom were all CGI. The "tv2" in the square was actually a model shot with a filtered lens. This logo was done by Malaysian animation studio Fat Lizard (now known as Vision Animation), who would later go on to produce shows such as SheZow and Transformers: Rescue Bots. This logo still holds up today.

Music/Sounds: A delightful, if somewhat generic, synth tune with some twinkling noises made by Fat Lizard. In later years, this was replaced with a simpler synth trumpet theme produced in-house by RTM.

Availability: Extinct.

TV2 (second era)

  • The main ident uses an electronic tune with a group of people (depending on their gender) singing "Tivi Dua... Dunia Ria... Tivi Dua!":
    • A group of men may sing the line.
    • A group of women may also sing the line, with the cymbal and piano sounds being omitted.
  • The other ident uses an electronic tune.
