Background

WVIA is a PBS affiliate based in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The station was formed in September of 1966.

1st (known) Logo (1980s)

Visuals: On a blue background, the WVIA Logo flips in from the left of the screen. A large number 44 then flips in.

Technique: Unknown.

Audio: Unknown.

Availability: Was only used as a station ident.

2nd Logo (1980s-1991)

Visuals: On a sunset background, 5 glass panes are seen. One of them has the WVIA logo with a 3D 44 on top of it. "SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE/HAZELTON" is under it.

Technique: Unknown.

Audio: Unknown.

Availability: Was only used as a station ident.

Legacy: The CGI in this logo has not aged very well, and the ident not having anything move is a wasted opportunity.
